As a VCP, I cannot jump ship but we all know how some of us feel about the Broadcom takeover and how it's impacting some businesses worldwide. At some point, a proportion movement will go away to the other side. I see products like Nutanix AHV, and Proxmox thought they may not exactly 1:1 comparisons it is very close especially when considering the ROI cost and TCO returns in a 3 to 5 years model. I am considering a lab run in my basement for Proxmox soon!

Very interesting. My guess is that most of us who are not in the DevOps world are behind. Good thing I'm not a hardcore coder.

9/23/24 - CLOUD EXIT?
5 to 8 years ago cloud was a big thing everyone in IT heard about or made plans to trial run and contrast.
Fast forward to today, while some companies are just discovering their true nature, some are ready to go back. Reasons: overall cost prohibitive, uncontrollable outage, and low platforms/vendors availability. Professionally, over the last 8 years, I believe that SaaS such as O365, AWS workspace are here to stay, major technologies such as DaaS and PaaS may not fit most businesses. Businesses in the area of high-intensive graphics, large data storage, and/or over 300 users my find most cost-effective approach is to have on-prem with some hybrid & one private datacenter as fail-over site.
Here's an interesting article that claimed to report 42%+ are coming back to on-prem.

Good write-up on history once upon a time Compellent SC story & Future by Winslow. Or was it rebranded to as PowerStore? It started in Minnesota. Me and my then boss visited their HQ for show and tell. We almost jump onto the bandwagon. We took the EMC path. This was 2009-2010.
